Tired of Windows and Mac OS? Switch to Elementary OS!

Elementary OS is one of the most beautiful and clean-looking operating systems available for use in computers. It is fast, open and privacy-oriented. Elementary has its characteristic design philosophy and made aesthetic use of colours. Over the years, this free-to-use operating system has collected heavy praise by reviewers around the world – making it a strong replacement option for both Windows and Mac users.

The initial development of ElementaryOS started with building themes and applications for Ubuntu, which later inspired the developers to transform it into a full-fledged Linux distribution. The first release of the operating system was on 31 March 2011, and so far, it has been through continuous bugfix and major feature updates.

The Elementary OS took shape with the concept of making Linux easier for non-technical users. Instead of terminal-based codes, elementary provides a graphical user interface and settings menus to allow users to perform almost all day-to-day tasks without writing any code.

Features of Elementary OS:

1. Fast and lightweight

Compared to Windows, macOS and many other Linux distros, Elementary OS is really faster. It boots the system quickly and uses very fewer resources to run the programs. Apps are lightning quick to open and they remember where you left off. Low system requirement means that the old lower-end desktops or laptops can be of use again.

2. Stunning simplicity

Elementary is one of the most beautiful operating systems ever to date. It’s clean, crisp and simple. It is bloatware-free but packs only the most important apps necessary for daily use. Elementary is based on pantheon desktop environment that follows a very minimalistic elegant design. It is arguable that the macOS design inspired parts of the system; but with each update, Elementary is emerging with its unique style.

The typography, icon design, sound, colour use or the system animations, the new Elementary OS v5 is packed with new features and improved performance. Like any other Linux distro, one can further customize the operating system, but for the regular users, the built-in desktop environment already offers an aesthetically pleasing user interface.

3. Free

Elementary OS is an open-source project and hence, one can choose to use it for free. The developers call it the Pay-What-You-Want method. You can pay whatever amount you want to support the developers. You can even type ‘zero’ dollar and download the OS right away. However, it is an open-source project. And it is difficult for the developers to sustain high-quality development for long without support from its fan-base. So, we strongly recommend lending a hand of support to the Elementary team.

4. App centre

Elementary houses an App Center where you can download both free and paid apps. The App Center is an open, pay-what-you-want app store for indie developers. Unlike traditional app stores, the elementary team has reviewed and curated each app in the Elementary App Center; which ensures a native, privacy-respecting, and secure experience.

5. Regular Updates

Users receive regular bugfix updates and scheduled major upgrades. Since Elementary OS is based on Ubuntu, one of the most popular Linux distributions; elementary obtains the necessary source codes from Ubuntu and works on further improving the features. So far, five major versions of elementary have been released: Jupiter, Luna, Freya, Loki and Juno.

6. Safe and secure: Forget antivirus

The developers at Elementary Inc. list privacy, safety and security as one of their top priorities. The Elementary OS is built on GNU/Linux, which is one of the most secure systems in the world. Because Virus and Malware are almost alien to the Linux system. It is the same software technology that powers the U.S Department of Defense, the Bank of China, and many more.

Should you switch to Elementary?

Bored with Windows or macOS and want to have a new experience ElementaryOS (eOS) is a very good replacement option. The eOS is built for simplicity and smooth user experience. Users who want a focused desktop environment for productivity will enjoy the clean and crisp look. If you are someone who loves to do a lot of coding & programming; and are searching for a Linux distro that isn’t awful looking, ElementrayOS is the answer.

With the gaming devices getting cheaper and readily available, there are a greater number of gamers than ever before. Thanks to the affordable internet, gamers around the world now not only play their games but also can share the gameplay with others via live streaming. Story of Zanvent

Zanvent, a small company based in Dhaka, created the first-ever Bangladeshi game streaming platform to allow gamers to stream their gameplay. Like any other streaming service, you can download a broadcasting software, enter your Zanvent stream server & stream-key to start streaming your game.

With my personal experience, Zanvent’s streaming service was very stable and fairly easy to interact with. On top of that, you can also join the Zanvent’s Discord community to chat, talk and share your ideas with the Zanvent users.

While watching the stream, users can interact via Live Chat; they can also donate money to encourage the streamers. For now, the streaming community is small and Zanvent is calling out for new streamers to make the platform buzzy.

The local prospect

The prospects of a local game-streaming service are huge, considering the fact that there is a steep rise on the number of gamers in Bangladesh. The introduction of mobile gaming also made gaming to be available at a reasonably inexpensive price. Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is a classic example of such success of mobile gaming platform.  While there are already established streaming services such as Twitch, YouTube Gaming or Mixer by Microsoft, Zanvent still holds tremendous opportunity, especially for the local Bangladeshi gamers who can enjoy the BDIX server speed. This also holds scope for gamers to form a larger community based on gaming and share their ideas, skills and experiences.

World’s first Blockchain phone is here. And you can buy it in Bangladesh

The time when Blockchain becomes a thing is upon us. Other than being used in cryptocurrencies, there will now be general use of this technology. Sirin Labs, A Swiss-based company has developed a Blockchain smartphone. They call it the Finney! Sirin Labs will launch Finney in Bangladesh.

BTRC (Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission) has cleared the import, which will begin from August 27. Index Group will be the one to import this.

What is blockchain?

Blockchain is mainly a bunch of blocks that contain records. For example; name, address, time, transactions, and the list goes on. Now several blocks like these are open to the public and are decentralized. And these blocks will update themselves with new information; and will link up to one another via cryptography. So, despite being out in public this technology is very secure.

Now, the Bangladesh government has planned to send graduates to learn and train for blockchain technology to Japan and India.

Features of the phone

The phone will be priced at $999. After being approved in August, it is said to be available in the market from October 2019. The Finney will run on Android OS 8.1x and Sirin OS 3.01. It will also have Cold storage crypto wallet, major cryptocurrency support, crypto wallet application, Token conversion system, and an Embedded D-apps store. Internal memory on this is 128gb which is expandable up to 2tb. The phone comes with a second screen on top of it and it has a water resistance of IP15.

It’s the Netflix for games. Meet, Apple arcade

Apple has announced its very own Netflix for Games called the “Apple Arcade”. The games provided will be available for playing offline as well as online. Just like Netflix allows users to download stuff on certain devices such as Phones and Tablets. Apple Arcade will be released on September 19. The subscription rate for this will be $4.99 in the U.S and approximately 450 Takas in Bangladesh.

Features

It's the Netflix for games. Meet, Apple arcade

Apple Arcade is allowed to share with 5 family members. Basically, like Netflix, again, you get to create 5 profiles. Probably be able to play on five devices at the same time. Apple Arcade initially has more than a hundred games to offer. Out which Lego Brawls seem promising. Now, who wouldn’t like a PvP lego where bricks drop from the sky. You sue those bricks to build stuff to your advantage. Kind of like “Stick Fight”. These games in Apple Arcade are strictly restricted to it. Not available for separate purchase.

The opportunity of a lifetime!

An interesting thing you would notice if you visit the Apple Arcade website. That is they are giving game developers a chance. Meaning if you are a game developer and want everyone to experience what you have created; then this is a good opportunity for you. https://developer.apple.com/apple-arcade/

What else?

Moving on, The games in Apple arcade will not have any kind of in-app purchase or ads. This is something android users have been dreaming of since the beginning of time. Fret not! As Google is also working on something of this sort Android users. WITHOUT ADS AND IN-APP PURCHASES! FINALLY! The Google Pass is the name for Google’s game streaming service.

Last but not least

It's the Netflix for games. Meet, Apple arcade

For those who’ve been using Netflix, this is a great thing. Like, you are getting good quality games in with ease. Except those who use Netflix. Netflix owners in this side of the globe are mostly android users. So an Apple exclusive service is of no use to them. But on the bright side, this is a good take on the gaming industry and this will reduce piracy a lot. Anyone with Netflix experience would look forward to this.
