Agontuk is an open-world game with a story in a Bangladeshi setting. A daunting and ambitious project– M7 Productions and Attrito, two Bangladeshi companies, are coming up with the first-ever Bangladeshi open-world action-adventure game. The game has been under development for the past year and here is what we know so far–
Agontuk is an Open-World action-adventure that takes place in a re-imagined version of Dhaka. In the game, Dhaka is re-named to Dhacca. Initial photos of the game show an impressive world-building and details that remain true to the image of Dhaka. Models of CNGs, places like Sadarghat and prominent Dhaka streets are featured in the game. We are expecting attention to the details for these familiar sights. The game is still in the early stages of development and hopefully, it will only get better with time.
Nothing on the release date, yet. Premier of the trailer is said to be on 15th November. The release will presumably be announced after the premier.
PS4 and PC are the targeted platforms for this game. This will also be the first Bangladeshi-made game to be PS4 compatible. Since development is still undergoing, the PC specifications remain unreleased. The Unity Game Engine is being used to make Agontuk. The game will not be available for mobile phones.
We are looking forward to doing a beta testing of the game. Stay tuned for a review of the game and an exclusive with the team behind this project.
Chris Hemsworth released photos and videos straight from the set of “Dhaka” on his Instagram account recently. The Australia-born star has apparently wrapped up filming his parts in the movie.
No, you probably will not run into Chris this week
To clarify, he was never in Dhaka, the city itself. The movie was filmed in Thailand and India. Those who ventured into Chris and the rest of the crew’s Instagram saw rickshaws and trucks with Bangla written on them. That was just part of a great set building.
An action thriller
In “Dhaka”, Hemsworth plays a mercenary called Tyler Rake. His character is hired by an Indian businessman to retrieve said businessman’s kidnapped son, who is held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh in the action thriller. Hemsworth’s character is described as a physically competent man of vulnerable emotional state. And Hemsworth isn’t the only familiar face from the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise in the movie. Sam Hargrave makes his feature directorial debut with this film. For those unaware, Hargrave is MCU character Captain America’s stunt double. Stranger things star David Harbour is also one of the supporting casts in the movie.
The “Marvel” factor?
The Russo brothers, directors of several MCU movies including Captain America: Winter Soldier and Avengers: Infinity war, are producing “Dhaka” through their independent production house. Although Hemsworth’s parts in the movie have been wrapped up, the production is expected to continue at least until March. We don’t have a concrete release date as of right now. So we’ll just have to wait and see how a depiction of our capital city pans out in a Hollywood film.
If you think about it, Dhaka is a character in the film too, since it’s being portrayed by some other, flashier, perhaps better looking city.
Chris Hemsworth, better known as Thor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is set to star in Netflix’ newest film, Dhaka. Before any Thor fans in Bangladesh get too excited, don’t be misled by the title, as the movie will be shot in India and Indonesia.
A Hollywood Reunion
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Dhaka will be a reunion of sorts of for Hemsworth. The movie is produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, a duo that previously worked with Hemsworth in Avengers: Infinity War.
It will be also written by the Russo brothers. More interestingly, making his directorial debut in this movie is Sam Hargrave. Hargrave is a stunt coordinator who has worked as a stunt double for Hemsworth’s co-star Chris Evans as Captain America. The movie will also be the Netflix debut for Hollywood superstar Hemsworth.
The plot of the film is being kept under wraps, but we have a few details so far. Hemsworth is going to play a man coping with emotional turmoil. His character is described by Deadline as physically brave but emotionally a coward. The plot of the movie will see Hemsworth rescuing a kidnapped Indian boy. The movie will be an action-thriller flick.
Filming and Release
The movie is set to begin shooting this November and end filming next year in March. The release date of the movie is yet to be confirmed. HiFi will keep you updated when the Russo brothers announce a release date for their upcoming movie.
